Affirmation
-
(August 2nd 2010)
All of New York’s publishing industry
has rejected me.
All California agents
have said “no.”
(I even had a California agent for a while
who loved my work,
but gave up on it quickly).
England:
Ditto.
India:
No thanks ma’am.
Poetry magazines
(including Southern Poetry Review,
Kundiman Poetry Contest,
Natural Bridge, etc):
Thank you for submitting,
but sorry.
The head of the IAAC (Indo-American Cultural Council),
Salman Rushdie,
a Miner’s organization in Virginia (whom I contacted about my poem
for the miners):
Thanks but no thanks. (They didn’t actually respond to me,
but that’s what silence says).
A webmaster of a literary site
who loved my work–
even asked for my bio–
forgot to put it up.
All this in eleven-and-a-half years.
And I still write.
Damn.
I must be really
really
crazy
good.
